Like most runners out there I have my favorite gear, you’ll see me mention specific shoes or clothes I like in passing on my posts. What you won’t see is sponsored reviews or product pushing. Over the years as a blogger I have had the pleasure of testing out hundreds of running and healthy living related products, almost always the gear was sent to me from the company or their PR firm. I always did my best to give an honest review, but as I did more an more reviews and giveaway I begin to feel like companies were speaking through me and I was losing my voice. You can read more about my feelings on it HERE.
There are currently only two companies I’m willing to stand behind. No I won’t be pushing their products down your throat, but I will take the opportunity to share my true passion for them when appropriate.
Full disclosure-I work for ZOOMA. In the same lines of being transparent-I have zero contractual obligations to use my blog to promote them. None.
ZOOMA is a national women’s race series that is “run by women”. That may sound redundant, but it’s true. There are two amazing, strong women behind ZOOMA. You can read about them HERE. I’m beyond blessed to work for a race series that is passionate about empowering women through running. I have zero reservations about putting my name behind them.
I’m running Hood to Coast with Team Nuun again this year. I’m guessing you think that means I *have* to pimp their products, right? Well you’re wrong. In fact, as a point in Nuuns favor I’ll share some private information. When I applied for the HTC team my application came with an email disclaimer along the lines of: “I will not do any forced/suggested/sponsored content on my blog. My posts aren’t for sale”. I expected to be turned down, but I made the team. Nuun values authentic representation. Go Nuun!
I personally know the people behind Nuun and love their passion for hydrating people without all the junk. I’ll go so far as to say that Nuun has saved my long runs. I used to have TERRIBLE headaches after long runs, I would spend the rest of the day balled up in agony. I tried out Nuun before, during and after my long runs and the headaches disappeared. I’m a firm believer in electrolytes without sugar and junk.
