We be classy y’all

In our search for a new home we wanted a couple of things: the best elementary school around, single story, walking distance to park/trail/something, big backyard, flat drive way for Dash to ride his bike in, and centrally located between the various stations my husband works at. (ok, there were size and price stipulations too,but you get the idea)

But invariably the houses we looked at came with other things, trends that repeated. There were granite counter tops, a plethora of kitchen cabinets, hardwood and tile floor, snobby neighbors, jetted tubs, and one of these guys in the kitchen either over the refrigerator or in the island:

And in each house I remember saying “Oh cool, it has a wine rack”

WHY?! Why was that something that impressed me? Truth be told, I drink this wine once a year. And while I enjoy it, mainly I drink it for sentimental reasons. I simply don’t enjoy wine much.

Guess I’m not classy enough but when faced with beer vs wine, beer wins every.single.time.

So for the past week I’ve stared at that spot above my refrigerator wondering what I’m going to do with it. Then this morning I woke up to see this:

Oh yes, some kind soul must have known about my angst and decided to help out. By filling it with a single bottle of Yellow Tail [shudders]. I’m guessing it was my husband partly because he is sweet and likes to fix anything that worries me, but mainly because he’s the only one I can think of that would be in my house after I went to sleep at midnight last night.

Do I follow his lead and fill it with wine I’ll never drink? Or do I spend the next day on Pinterest figuring out alternate uses for wine racks?

What’s your favorite wine?

Any suggestions on what to do with my wine rack?

From the Shiner Bock girl who has more recently turned to sweet wines…Moscatto wines are yummy. They remind me of fruit juice.

Fill it with beer!!!! The big bottles (750 ml) will fit perfectly in there! They are basically the size of wine bottles. Go out and stock up on bottles of awesome craft beer and fill it in. That is what me and my husband do. We have so much beer in our apt, we use this wine rack that we have for beer!

I was going to say the same thing! Fill it with craft beer; the more unique the bottle and label, the better – even if you don’t like it! Maybe you could start by putting a local beer from your travel spots or something. Maybe it some sort of memory board!

  3. Definitely pinterest. If nothing else, you’ll find some crazy stuff to laugh at!

I had that exact same wine rack in my kitchen – which is silly, because putting wine over the fridge will cause it to get too hot and spoil. But, I don’t drink anyway, so after a few years, we removed the diamond grill (it was really easy – just pushed it back with a rubber mallet) and now I display pretty pitchers and platters in it. Worked out great – now I have storage for things that I don’t need to reach very often, plus it looks pretty!

Jam Jar Sweet Shiraz, it’s so good, I am not a huge wine girl nor do I know much about wine but this stuff is AWESOME! I’m a beer girl too.

A wine rack. What am I going to do with a wine rack? I only drink a wine, not even many wines. What am I going to do with a wine rack.*

*Yes, the classic gun rack quote popped into my head while reading this post, so I couldn’t help but amend it to fit your situation! Unfortunately, I don’t have useful suggestions!

I don’t drink much wine either, but I think the racks look so nice in kitchens too! I’d say host a party, then people will bring you wine so you can fill it up a bit more! You don’t have to feel bad about not drinking it and then you have some (presumably) nice wine for when special occassions or surprise visitors pop up!

My favorite wine is reisling, yum!
That’s a very cool wine rack, I would buy antique bottles and put them up there for decoration.

I don’t drink, so I would definitely be on Pinterest looking up cool things to do with a wine rack. :)
